MTA Junior Carnival for 2026

The excitement is building as Mackay Touch Association prepares to host its annual Junior Touch Football Carnival on Sunday, 26 July, welcoming hundreds of young players from across the region for a day of fast-paced competition, teamwork and fun.

The carnival will bring together junior teams from a number of associations, providing players with the opportunity to test their skills against new opposition while enjoying one of the biggest junior touch football events on the local sporting calendar.

Throughout the day, spectators can expect plenty of thrilling matches, spectacular tries and outstanding displays of sportsmanship as players of all ages showcase their talent and passion for the game.

Mackay Touch Association President, Chris Breckell, said the carnival is one of the highlights of the junior touch football calendar.

"Our Junior Carnival is about more than just competition. It's an opportunity for young players to develop their skills, make new friendships and enjoy being part of the touch football community. We're looking forward to welcoming teams from across the region for what promises to be a fantastic day."

The carnival also provides an opportunity for young referees to continue developing their officiating skills in a supportive environment, while coaches and volunteers work together to create a positive experience for every participant.

Families, friends and members of the community are encouraged to come along and support the next generation of touch football stars. Entry is free, with a canteen and food vans operating throughout the day to keep players and spectators refreshed.

Mackay Touch Association extends its thanks to the volunteers, referees, coaches and sponsors whose ongoing support makes events like this possible.

Whether you're cheering from the sidelines or stepping onto the field, the Junior Touch Football Carnival promises a day filled with great sport, community spirit and plenty of smiles.
